He's been at the forefront of several huge leaps forward in electronic music. A lot of his releases broke more new ground than most artists do in a career. There's a lot of stuff of his that I don't like, and I'm far from being a single minded Aphex worshipper, but you sort of have to hand it to the guy - he's done more than just drive around the countryside in a tank.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm kind of Warp-centric in what I own, but that's at least partly because the (UK) media and a lot of (UK) shops will only notice crazy electronics if it's on Warp, Rephlex or Planet Mu. Part of the reason that I'm on this list is that it's about the only place to hear about Merck, Schematic, ~Scape, Mille Plateaux, Beta Bodega, Ghostly and so on...
