HELP BRING IDM (and other electronic music) PROGRAMMING TO SIRIUS SATELLITE RADIO SIRIUS satellite radio offers a ton of commercial-free original music programming, 24 hours a day. Their programming offerings span beyond the hits and into more "niche" genres. However, while SIRIUS has a number of electronic music stations, they offer very little in terms of non-dance electronic music. Music like IDM and ambient are not represented in SIRIUS's current programming lineup. SIRIUS prides themselves on dictating their programming by customer demand. As of yet, they have not seen a demand for IDM or other non-dance electronic music. Let's change that. If you are a SIRIUS subscriber, or would consider subscribing if SIRIUS offered more programming that interested you, please take the time to let SIRIUS know what it is you want. Many listeners have helped change and tune SIRIUS's programming offerings with their feedback. SIRIUS offers many ways of contacting them, and doing so in the past has produced positive results for others. HOW TO HELP Let SIRIUS know how you feel! SIRIUS makes a big deal out of the fact that their programming is customer demand driven, given that their income streams are direct from the customers instead of advertisers. So let's bring them some demand. In anything you write, PLEASE state if you are a SIRIUS subscriber, or if you might be interested in subscribing in the future (if the programming grows to meet your tastes!). Be truthful, and respectful. Flames get deleted, but well-spoken feedback gets considered. 1) Send an email to: genfeedback@sirius-radio.com SIRIUS claims these emails are read by "key SIRIUS executives in all departments". 2) Send an email to: programmingfeedback@sirius-radio.com Or use the "Talk to Us" form on the SIRIUS web page (can be found when you bring up any channel's info page) 3) Write a letter to SIRIUS, letting them know what you want. Written letters are always weighed more heavily than emails, but if it matters to you, try to do both. Letters can be mailed to: SIRIUS Satellite Radio 1221 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10020 4) Post a message at the SIRIUS Backstage forums (www.siriusbackstage.com/forums/) These forums are read (and even posted to!) by programming directors as well as listeners. It's another great way to get your voice out. 5) If you own an IDM record label, please submit your recordings to SIRIUS! Nothing will help more than to give SIRIUS a fat stack of music to play. Recordings can be mailed to: Attn: Music Programming Department SIRIUS 1221 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10020 Much of this info can be found on the "Contact Us" page at SIRIUS.com, in case you need to verify any of it. Satellite radio providers like SIRIUS offer a great opportunity, by cutting out the middle man and putting the programming control in the hands of the customers. Let's show them that there is demand for a broader range of electronic music on SIRIUS. Every single email, letter, and recording counts huge. It can be very easy to create enough of a ground-swell to get noticed. If nothing else, please send an email.
