Arguably, there is a large IDM/goth crossover anyway! As an ex-goth dabbler myself (I'm 39 ferchrissake - give me some slack!!! I was there "back in the day"!) and I sometimes try to convince the goths of this. Think Scorn, Spectre, Techno-Animal, Simm and the whole Dub-Hop thing. Also, alot of dark ambient could be construed as very "goth". Opinions, please?
As for the IDM-needs-sex-appeal aspect, well I can accept Autechre as totty - they've got cheekbones, after all! ;o) There's got to be quite alot of other male IDM-totty, but at the moment all I can think of is Alec Empire. (However, I think he does "know it" a bit, which is, of course, immensely unattractive!) Witness the performance, the other year when he played on the same bill as Richard H Kirk and Capitol K at the ICA - he came on stage stripped to the waist and with his torso sprayed gold!!! In this month's issue of The Wire, however, he is pictured live, but no gold paint is to be seen! :-)
Female IDM totty is a whole lot thinner on the ground! All I can think of right now is Andrea Parker! ...Unless Sheila Chandra counts!!! 8-D She is my "perfect woman"! Yummm!!!
(BTW - I hope you all realise that this is all said with my tongue firmly in my cheek! :-) After all, it's only right that we should have a laugh at this time of year. ...However, if our small display of wanton banal sexism deteriorates into The Benny Hill show then I shall have to hit you all over the heads with my metaphorical truncheon! ...And I don't mean my love-truncheon, either! Doh!!! I've taken it all too far!)

I half-agree: I think IDM really needs a goth infusion.
Think: Vampires. Vampires are hot, and androgyny is always good for
rock music, it gets the juices flowing for both the boys and the girls.
We need hot sexy goth IDM. I remember a couple years back there was a
short-lived joke website about Autechre & Aphex quitting IDM to do
nordic death metal. I wouldn't quite want that, but I think the
electronic music scene deathly [hah!] needs an infusion of goth
sensibilities. Bola could do, his music's pretty dark lately.
It's the logical next step, really.
Or maybe I've just been reading too much Anne Rice lately.
