yahoo says that the idm making list is closed to new membership and is in the process of being moved, but that's a better place to look for this sort of info. there are software programs to generate drum patterns, and i seem to remember richard d james mentioning in an interview that he was messing around with stuff like that (so he could spend more time shagging, or something). i'm not sure if he used it on tracks like "Vordhosbn" or what aleksi is up to in his stuff, but it's possible some people are catching on to those computer programs. i don't think it's really about how many drum machines you're using so much as it is about the fact that when you listen closely to your favorite complex idm drums, usually there are multiple drum samples for any given type of sound. multiple kick drum samples, snare samples, hhat samples, clicking, rim shots, all sorts of percussive samples. don't forget that synths make great drums too. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Van de Wiele" <tom.vandewiele@gmail.com> To: <btallent@gmail.com> Cc: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Monday, July 26, 2004 8:27 AM Subject: Re: [idm] creation of IDM drumpatterns
