Tampere, Finland, the Far North corner of the Earth. No polar bears. On the list since early 90s. Classic IDM buff (GPR, B12, Likemind, Warp, A13, Skam, Clear/deFocus, New Electronica, Markant, RePHLeX, etc.), expanded for added electro goodness (SCSI/AV, Scopex, Surface Effect, Electrix, Signal, Pylon, Modern Love, Data, Satamile, World Electric, etc.) since late 90s. Also quite a bit of techno, some ambient, some jazzy DnB, experimental weirdness, classical. Oh, and I find it rather amusing that someone periodically opens up the can of worms that is IDM: acronym, genre, whatchamacallit? I couldn't care less if some people use it as a name tag for pseudointellectual social snobbery or as an artificial genre slot. The list has been a virtual cornucopia of eclectic genres, cross-overs, what-have-you - I know I've been quite the trainspotter during the years, but trying to conclusively define what IDM is is just WOMBAT (There's an ETLA for you to Google). I haven't posted anything on the list for quite some time, and now is a good time to de-lurk as any. I've not had anything to contribute, anyway. Maybe I should. Someone back in the days mentioned that the list "used to be the sh*t - now it's just sh*t." Now why is that? How are the more recent Skam releases tickling your ears?
