Well OK - there we go, I probably took Squarepusher a bit too much for
IDM, I though you'd put it in there but I know there's lots of other
sub-genres and other styles, which I guess makes it so fascinating for
me.
I just bought Prefuse's Uprock.... (my first Bleep purchase btw!), and
it is funky as much as it is complex, and this I really like - hence my
reference to Apparat. When I played his Duplex album to a lady friend
of mine the other day and asked her to categorise it, she said she'd
call the style "Angenehm" - German for "pleasant"! I had quite a
laugh.....
I think what makes IDM IDM is that it makes you THINK (at least most of
the time)
