You know what though, It seems as if no one in Philly puts alot of effort
into it. Unfortunately I live in south jersey, but I used to play for a
while in an electronic night called Slipping into Sublimnity, For quite a
while we had great turnouts, and, while I guess the more ambient nature of
our sound brought alot of indie types, we still had alot of support. I
played with a table full of electronics, before I bought my powerbook.
I have never been able to catch the Holgram events (thats you right?) but
I know if really been going for a while now. Do you get a good crowd?
It seems even 3 or 4 years ago there was more of a community. We had
Funkstorung come through, Geom, Accelera Deck, Prefuse 73, Plaid, Autechre
played Princeton, etc. Now I never hear of any one decent coming through.
Now everyone skips philly and plays elsewhere. I think we need something to
get more people out, like a laptop jam night or something like that. If
philly electronic musicians knew of each other more, we'd be able to pull
more off.
