I'd also suggest listening to the Soft Pink Truth("Do You Party?", 2002/3). Some of it isn't particularly dance-floor-ready, but the samples and the way they are put together seem to evoke disco & funk for me. This is especially true of "Promofunk", "Coat Check", "No Love" and "Soft Pink Missy" (although the last one is quite minimal). I also wonder how Akufen's particular brand of microhouse fits into this disco-idm discourse. It's hardly disco, but once again I find myself thinking of disco when I listen to some of the tracks.
