i have a place in time that's connected to big loada. a friend of mine had recommended squarepusher, big loada in particular, so i picked it up not really knowing what i was getting into at all and lo and behold, there was 'journey to reedham' and 'massif'. i had never heard anything like it before and it completely blew me away. so big loada is my numba one for both technical and quixotic reasoning. big up to hard normal daddy and go plastic, tho. papalon (or is it papal on? the kerning of the letters on the cd is kinda fucked) from hard normal daddy though is straight phenomenal sequencing and jazz-sexy from all sides. probably one of his best in my opinion, and the classical movement structure makes it a real killer. beautiful and essential. again, one of those things that i had never heard before that really put me on my ass. you wanna talk squarepusher does jazz? be sure you've got that one in your list. i think 'go plastic' is a sadly underrated release. i think it's probably on par with big loada in 'play it all the way through and love every minute'-ness. he has come a long way from that classic, and he's definitely not going wrong. i don't think i've heard anything in this vein "jam" quite as much as 'i wish you could talk'...maybe arched maid from rdj. maybe. and the two short short tracks on there are solid as well...good seque/transition stuff. almost wish he'd have a release comprised of just things like that material. :justin http://posthoc.org/ | http://ecesis.org/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
