So did anybody go to the Apple Ipod dj event thing last Friday? Anything interesting?
I wandered into the store at the Grove in LA. Not that I have one or even am interested in getting one. I was just there to see how the djs were using them.
TL Smith (of the ELM posse) was on when we showed up and as far as I could tell, he was just playing back some songs that were recorded into the Ipods. No manipulation, no beatmatching, no effects/DSP. The only cool thing about the event was that he was playing some pretty cool tunes (Quench?, some others I couldn't place) for people who never hear anything like that.
The "surprise dj" was BT. When he showed up, we headed for the doors quickly.
