i think you inverted your verb clause there, but yeah. i had a
blast, but i got to say somebody was smoking herb instead of making
up fliers or something. this seems to be a major problem with shows
in chicago -- nobody promotes shit and nobody shows up for it. same
thing happened at the chris clark and mira calix show. i bet theres
some dude who could make a killing by offering to put some legwork
into promoting this stuff because whoever sets em up just doesn't
seem to be interested. note that the soundhack/errorsmith show was
packed to the gills and fliers were everywhere weeks in advance. do
the math, guys.

yeah i'm gonna go out on a limb and say greg davis needs to get a
little more "fun" to work in that context but whatever. let the guy
do what he does and if people yap over it, he's a big boy and can
deal.
jan jelinek sounded really dope but i wish he dropped the beats. i
talked to him during fehlmann's set and he said the same thing -- he
didn't think anybody woulda danced but fehlmann obviously proved that
theory wrong.
fehlmann kicked major ass and with style. dude has some sort of
magic powers or something. i dunno what it was, he was enthralling to
watch and all he was doing was standing there with these wicked sort
of fey german poses while he nailed track after track off his pbook.
it was amazing, every track he played he looked like he was amazed at
the glistening sheen of the sounds coming out of the system. i
talked to him afterwards and he was very engaging and 100% the nicest
german techno star i've met (jan was 2nd place btw ... both really
super nice guys). something about fehlmann though, the guy was
oozing charisma, and his music has a certain confidence about it that
i think must come from working in the medium since the 1970s.
