The same could be said about public transportation, airplanes, taxis,
carpools, military transportation, etc...though the weight of your
argument/commentary holds no water.
It's an assumed risk you take when you embark on these sorts of things,
whether it be international travel, a trip across town or even (gasp) a
trip into the 'final frontier'.
