I think a lot of people are mischaracterising this thread as being
about "selling out". As far as I know nobody on this list has
objected to a "sell out" in a couple years. Certainly not on this
thread. I think the only person voicing any objection to the Pref73
foot locker track was Stanton who was objecting on the grounds that
it's morally wrong to associate one's artwork with a corporation, not
that P73 "betrayed" his fans or compromised his artwork.
Your point is valid tho. The Eggers essay says it best. Mostly the
people who complain about sellouts are still safe in the ideological
playpen of high school or a private college. And you're especially
right about the rich mommies and daddies. Idealism comes naturally to
those who have had everything handed to them.
