I know what you mean, and I think an important part of constructing your own
artistic perspective is being willing to say so when you hear something that
you think is utter crap...
At the same time, though, couldn't your comments be applied to any kind of
music? It's not the genre, there's good and bad music in every genre isn't
there?
BTW, I heard Steve Roden here in LA a few months ago at that Rhizome thing and
although he barely made any sound at all for long periods I found his
performance completely captivating.
