I'll try not to add *too* much more to this unless asked, but I'll speak up
(briefly) as an avowed lover of 2-step. Granted, I'm a music whore and in
some senses I love songs/vocals as much as production -- but I'm definitely
not a fan of much contemporary R&B and I've still found a lot to love in
2-step.
Here's three of the best:
Stanton Warriors - Stanton Session
- the Basement Jaxx of the 2-step scene: infectious and irresistible, but
very tight
V/A - Pure Garage (mixed by DJ EZ)
- very R&B/anthems sounding, not going to change yr mind, but if
you like classic house music, you'll love this...
Zed Bias - Sound of the Pirates
- harder, more track-oriented...
Just be sure to avoid single-artist albums: MJ Cole, Wookie, and esp. Artful
Dodgy (except their mix albums).
