Just to chime in, I find "Confield" to be my favorite Autechre release to
date. Not nearly as challenging, caustic, and moody as initial reports
(here and in big electronic mags) made it out to be... pretty soothing.
Very feral. Great music to put in the background while sleeping.
In retrospect, the US tour live sets they did were far more abrasive,
clobbering, and maniacal than "Confield" -- in a way, I can slightly
empathize with people who did get a listen to "Confield" before seeing
them live, and was disappointed with the aural assault. But I stress
"slightly". :)
