maybe because they don't do it for me?? who defined neu! as an 'exemplar'?? you?? who cares. just because julian cope and the freeman brothers slather them with praise doesn't mean i have to do the same :P there are many german bands of the era that wipe the floor with neu! in my opinion, namely the cosmic jokers, ash ra/manuel gottsching, brave new world, guru guru, cluster, harmonia, kraftwerk...i could go on for days.
