The darker side of Futurism was the movement's observation of war as a great technological catalyst, and the inexorable link between the Italian Futurists and the Italian Fascists. Indeed, war and the preparation for war (and as Ronald Reagan would tell you, the prevention of war) are responsible for so many of the modern conveniences we enjoy today. Like the network infrastructure that allows delivery of this e-mail list for instance. I certainly don't condone Fascism and really I cannot understand how technological advancement, which requires a certain amount of free thinking and autocratic operation to flourish, could be considered an ally of Fascism.
