to be completely nit-picky... what's the point of her writing the software
at all? or the point of any of the artists discussed on the list doing
what they do? there are many artists who create a wall of obscurity
between themselves and their audiences for a number of reasons, none of
which are particularly functional.
i think her use of obfuscation, numero-linguistics and euro-robotic
monotony create a sort of "Corporate Image" that spans all her output,
including the newsgroup posts, her web-sites, and her software. it's a
trademark, and a very well exectued one at that.
furthermore, it serves to remove human identity from the posts, creating a
sort of hacker romanticization that perhaps the programs are written by
some sort of glitchy Eastern European AI.
anyway, you probably get the idea that i'm coming down in favor of the
"mystique"
later...
