Out now on Defocus is the new John Tejada four track 12". It was promoted as
being a sampler, so an album may be on the horizon in the near future.
I'm not overly familiar with Tejada's work but this 12" continues Defocus'
tradition of releasing quality idm. Four tracks of finely crafted but
minimal electronica with a distinctive American flavour (I don't know how
else to describe it this comes highly recommended and represents the
diversity of material Defocus will probably be putting out in the future. If
you want a copy though, hurry, as it's limited to 400 (in the UK at least).
Look out also for the release on Defocus next compilation 12", "Two You See"
featuring more new artists who will presumably continue to release material
through Defocus in the future.
On another topic, I hope Autechre do take another direction with their next
release. I for one have grown increasingly tired of trying to access
material such as their recent EP7, which to me sounds very clever but is
almost totally impossible to listen to - which surely totally misses the
point. Just an opinion of course. Bring back the crystalline sounds of
Amber!
