a couple of my observations: 1. seems like alex has moved to using a lot shorter samples/segments to make loops, basically sort of adapting some of fehlmann's ideas to his style, which i think is clever. also probably nowadays, without a huge label and with all the copyright infringment madness, the whole sample heavy style of the past sort of had to go. its a smart way to adapt i think. 2. it looks like fehlmann is using ableton, i think they mentioned that? i wonder what % of the album is tiny loops of the cdj recorded right into ableton in their house, also a smart idea. 3. overall i really like the album, it does remind me a lot of okie dokie but there is clearly an evolution here specifically that i feel like patterson is maybe (again just guessing here) more obviously present adding his color to the mix and fehlmann just bringing his usual cool mellow funk to hold everything together. really feels like fehlmann and patterson hitting their stride as a new incarnation of the orb that hopefully puts out a few more albums. 4. can't wait to hear what the critics say all the same lol, one in particular..
