That came out like 5 years ago. There was no 2-step back then. I mean I was making a gross generalization about the 2-step thing, but that's because everyone and I mean EVERYONE in d'n'b is doing 2-step now. I stopped paying attention to club oriented d'n'b 2 years ago so I could be wrong, but all the stuff I've heard since then has been 2-step.

Never got to hear them, can't say I'm interested. Some music just doesn't need to be remixed. I don't see what there is to gain from remixing people like Coltrane or Miles. Coltrane's songs (especially) are meant to be listened to as long, continuous, developing pieces, so sampling a snippet of one of his solos or whatever and using it in a d'n'b tune seems pretty inconsequential. You might as well be sampling whatever else. It just becomes another "found sound" and pretty much loses significance. I don't think there's anything wrong with sampling any of these people, but "remixing" Coltrane... I did get to hear that that Laswell/Miles thing and that was OK I guess, but that was simply a mix really. Might as well listen to the original albums though.
