i've got an extra 30 minutes between class and work, so allow
me to review the new cd i got in the mail today. i'll go song
by song, as i listen...

--------
finally, breakbeats at 160 bpm that don't remind me of the
multitudes of mindless (or even mediocre) drumnbass coming
out nowadays. the colorful, pulsing synth tones that dominate
the background of this track could not be sweeter.
pencha
------
it almost sounds like booth/brown came up with a nice random-
note patch and then started programming some mad intricate rhythms
around it. this track, like the first one, reminds me of the
rhythm programming in hangable auto bulb. always sticking to
an extremely electronic trip-hop baseline, this track rules.
characi
-------
my first thoughts are of track 3 on lunatic harness. this track
has that same perfect balance of melody and anti-rhythmic weirdness.
except, as it progresses, the rhythms become gradually easier
to follow. at the 4:00 mark, i'm bobbing my head. god i wish i
could make music this good.
krib
----
it starts off with some highly treated synth noodling. after a
few seconds of building tension, a slow electronic break hits
(i wish my headphones had subs). unfortunately, i can't say
anything else about this track because it's so good it defies
description.
tilapia
-------
the weakest track on the ep, this is still a solid autechre
jam. clocking in around 145-150 bpm, it reminds me a bit
of one of the keynell remixes from the warp 12".
i'm sure i failed to do this release justice, but i wanted to
make sure everybody ordered it without further hesitation.
i just pray that the new hab is as good (i must wait till after
work!)
