Depends on the audience. For trainspotters like us, it may even mildly boost them or at worst have no effect. For more mainstream audiences it most definitely does have an adverse effect - for them a song's a sociocultural experience whose medium is unimportant ("who cares if it's on tape or CD, I can play it in the car, right?")
