thank you jon. i responded similarly to that post but ended up just
trashing it 'cuz i figured what's the point. however...that lfo mix is one
of the best things i'd heard in months when this came out. the subtle
vocoding of her voice doubled under the main vocal track just kills me
every time. and their combination of unsettling ambience and loping
downtempo electro struck my ears as one of most original and affecting
hybrids of those two genres in memory...similar props go to the ø remix of
"hedphones" and that storming atom-smash of a track by b. hannant . killer,
killer stuff.
however, i also agree with james that the singles make for a more cohesive
listen..._telegram_'s great in terms of its parts, and especially great for
djing since it's like bringing six records in one, but the mix is a bit
schizo for straight-up listening and you're better off with the singles if
that's your tact (to say nothing of the fact that some of the best mixes
from the singles--the plaid, the other lfo, etc.--don't even appear on
_telegram_).
wafflingly,
