Most EQ units do not include noise generators and people who oen EQ's seem
to think it improves the sound of their systems. I agree that pink noise
generators are an provide a solution to setting up a system for an indiviual's
room. to improve. Also to get the best benefits from a pink noise generator
you require the use of a high quality microphone.
If you think your system needs an EQ for boosting treble, bass etc then you
really need to upgrade your system - Adding components between the source and
output can only add noise to the overall sound. I thought that adding an EQ to my system would be a solution to the lack of bass depth, a friend dragged my
to an auditions evening of Naim equipment which instantly changed my mind. The
level of detail, quality and the depth that I heard made me change my mind. For a single source system costing 600 pounds I can truefully say that I have not
a comparable MIDI of EQ boosted system. Placing the speakers on spiked stands
and adding decent stranded cable made a huge difference to the bass depth and
overall detail, without any loss in sound quality. I have yet to hear a single system with an EQ which can boast a clean and accurate sound- pink noise cinema
systems excluded.
