This may fall outside the purview of the list, but here goes... I've been weighing the idea of starting a list for stuff that "doesn't really fit" musically in the various lists -- I'm particularly thinking of bands like Stereolab, Labradford, Laika, Moonshake, Mercury Rev, Seefeel, etc. that are making nonrock music with rock (and in some cases techno) instrumentation. Anyone else think this might be worthwhile? Please send replies to me personally and I'll summarize to the list. From the mail I've gotten, the overwhelming sentiment (running at a ratio of about 6 to 1 so far) seems to be in favor of creating a list for the discussion of genre-bending "indie" bands. I've been informed, though, that a list that appears to serve this widely defined class of music is already in the early implementation stages and will probably be announced within a week, so I'm going to hold off for now.
