Picked up the new Beaumont Hannant album Texturology last weekend. Now when I went to pick it up I was told there were 2 albums. One, the regular release that also came out on cd and also a limited dj edition vinyl only. Since I was low on cash I decided to pick up the dj edition which I like a lot even if it is a little short for a double album. The question I have is whether I need to get the regular release. Is it completely different songs? Different mixes? Are they drastically different? Also I haven't heard much mention of Mouse on Mars new album Vulvaland on Too Pure which is easily one of my favorite purchases ever. It has a nice dubby sound with nice female vocal samples here and there. Anyone else like/dislike this album. Also picked up a Mu-ziq single with phi*1700. It just came into the store I get my stuff at last week but I'm sure someone mentioned this quite a while ago. How old is this release? Thanks t -

He he. The regular version has 10 entirerly different tracks. :) It is very good though. Total playing time is 72.02 so it is well worth the money (IMHO)........

The Mouse on Mars release is one of the best stuff out in '94, the single released before the album has a very cool dubby track. On other stuff, I picked up a strange compilation called something like "...Cafe Del Mare..."? Anyway, good stuff on it that I haven't heard before, mostly ambient-technoie from Sun Electric, UnderWorld, Sabers, and others. The info says it was compiled at the above said cafe in Spain, and the Meditarranean sound is definitely there. Mohsen

I think maybe it's Cafe del Moar?? Light blue cover? This thing was selling like hotcakes when it came out a few weeks back. I don't have it but from what I heard I will. I really liked the fact that there is a large variety of music on this thing. t -

Almost certainly "Cafe del Mar". The name's been used many times by different people. It's actually the name of a club in Ibiza.... Cosmic

First, where is Ibiza? There's a label called this (or maybe Ibeza)... breakbeat stuff... second, doesn't the name and club Cafe del Mar have something to do with Jam el Mar (sp?) of Jam & Spoon..?? -kc

I was always under the impression that Ibiza is in Spain, and I may be wrong but Ibiza has always been used as an adjective to describe some really happy upbeat housey garagey anthem type song like "Los Americanos" by Espiritu or something like that. This probably has no place on IDM but I'm sure someone can give you a definitive answer on uk-dance. Also, Cafe del Mar has nothing to do with Jam el Mar but is kind of related as it is the name of a track by Cosmic Baby and Kid Paul who go under the name Energy 52 on Eye-Q records. Well, they're all from the same country... Jonathan eabu751@orion.oac.uci.edu BTW haven't heard it but it looks like Plavka has ruined the best song on "2001" which is called "Odyssey to Anyoona" with her vocals... oh well.

Yeah, it's a popular holiday resort among the Brits. I believe it's quite important in rave history, but that's before my time.... Cosmic

I've no idea, but "Cafe del mar" means "Cafe by the sea" Cosmic

so far, three people on this list have said they like this, me included. definitely worth looking for. still playing "frosch" and the second "UAH" ec80r remix every day... (vinyl edition with extra 12", that is.)

i suggest it's from the sixties... hmm, is teep still around? he might know. i picked it up end of may. i'm beginning to like the a side, with those 6t's vibraphone vibes and such, but i still hate b1. b2 is the really nice one. - best purchase this week: dave angel's seas of tranquility ep, rotation records 94003. (and for those who know, last week's: flytronix' shadowlands, whitehouse 029.) cheers, p.
