I know there are some drum n bass tours that go through New Orleans. You should check out some..

Wow very cool. Loveliescrushing is my friend Scott's band. He had a few other projects that never got released one was called Candyswirl, way noisier than his other stuff. After I took him to see Aphex Twin (NASA... See the light tour), he was very interested in doing experimental electronic stuff..but never did And Kranky and MBV..great stuff!

I would try to check out a little of everything from idm to trip hop to Detroit techno to drum n bass. Some people seem to get into a "locked groove mindset" where all of there music has to sound the same. Here are some personal favorites: Carl Craig, Black Dog (as the trio), Plaid, Ed Rush & Optical, Sci Clone, Global Communications (aka Reload, Link, Jedi Knight), Photek, and many others. There are several people from the list that has radio shows Andrew Duke, Lance, Zimbette, myself and many others. There is a whole crew of people into electronic/experimental music in new orleans. They can be found at http://www.chromosome57.com In fact our next cd, neutral - font translation errors (out this month), is by one of those people. I have seen one of her live shows in new orleans and it was quite fun. Very original. The guy that went on before her had this mask on in which he would sing. The mask was outfitted with a headphone speaker which was used as a mic. This mask was then connected to a homemade processor and the end result was this dense dark noisy ambient. Neutral performed as squab teen (another project of hers) and it was somewhere between performance art and quirky electronics. I don't know if they are doing shows right now but I know there are plans to do some more in the future. -daniel: Head Monkey: Mad Monkey Records: http://monkey.eliteware.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It was at a place called the Mermaid Lounge. Not sure if this place regularly puts on electronic events or not. -daniel: Head Monkey: Mad Monkey Records: http://monkey.eliteware.com On Fri, 7 Jan 2000, Ben Caston wrote:

If you're in New Orleans looking for something to do, you may want to check out this event right around Mardi Gras. Too bad it lacks an experimental room, but if you are really starved for a night out...
