SyndromE issue #6 hit the streets this Monday. Featured in one of the sections i write. . *Culled from the Net* (yet another fishing term!) is a BASS chat with our Bro, el hombre de la casa UVC, Jdrukman As well as *culled* there are other assorted reviews. . . . . . one of which follows SPUN-if you turn on (Luv Phaser Productions) (Compact Disc) *how ya'll feel out there!!!?" . . .the disc asks and we reply. . .pretty f*cking good! This disc is mental! My heart fills with joy knowing there exists a place where diversity is normal and segueways (sp?) are too hyper to be seamless. Spun has mad skills. This kid holds his own in a juice no doubt. Then as if to show that his style is no beat match cop out, he settles into some flawless effervescent acid. Smooth in the bpm flow, Spun is certainly not asleep at the trance wheel, he's bizzy dropping sweeps and working furious psychedelic swirls into the mix. My only complaint with the disc is that there is not one mention of the artists who created SPUNS ammo. No doubting Spuns respect for them, after all it's clear that SPUN is an artist on the decks, but I would have at least given them a big verbal high five like. . . *respect to the music makers* 9/10 (a strong 4/5 on the bass0meter) ps i got my copy from jdrukmans room mate (mw@sybase.com)-i think?? get on the stick a grab one asap cause these puppies aren't going to be popping up in tower records any time soon. . .-i think?? high fives and low end. . .TeeP (aran@mitvmc.mit.edu)

Well, such is the practice with mix tapes... The legality of these things is questionable, especially with mix CDs. They usually leave track listings out for many reasons. One, the DJ, not necessarily the music, is the reason the thing was made. Two, they don't want to draw *too* much attention to the fact that it's essentially a compilation made and sold without the permission of the record labels. Three, many DJs don't want people knowing what tracks they spin. It's the same reason why some cover the labels when they spin. It's really too bad they don't list the tracks, since I usually finally ID tracks *months* after the tape's been out. I agree that the Spun CD is fucking *phat*. Peace, Matt <(hcy)>
