Well, i just got back from spending the weekend with my Caustic J9ii.(Thx Floo) What follows is some wicked randomness about the AFX dub on 45 minus 8. . . It is not often that a 12" like this finds its way into the racks of dance music. For those of you who felt left out by not getting your 303/606 mad 10" picture disc be greatful you have the opportunity to get those two tracks plus two more. What makes this release even more groundbreaking is once again the inner tracks (where it's at) you know what i'm talking about . . pure dub. The bass in this track is so mental it will change the rhythm of your heart. Coming in low and stealth like is the traditional rub up of a snare drum. . . If you are planning on dropping this part into your mix (let em know what's coming) be sure to get quick on the levels. . .the low end in this track is a real speaker tweaker. A hopping bass line skips along which takes a firm grasp on the bassbins and strokes them until the track finally lets go. Meanwhile mad dubbed out depth charges are dropped in. . .rivets pop as the sub assault continues, mid range stress cracks and clanks in the sub's skeleton ripple to the surface. Keep a close eye on what this track does to your headshell (mine was quivering like a hummingbird in humbolt county). Also if you turn off all your lights and leave your 1210 cue light on pay close attention to the pattern the grooves are making. . .is that a sick joke or do we have a mini pitch read going there. . . I'm fully pumped to know that there is some serious expansion into "other" styles of music making from the minds of RePHleX (they are the music makers!) On that note i'm proud to announce that the next oLoWoP/Terra Posse event has been set. . .WHAT'S HAPPENING will take place the weekend of November 12/13 and will sure to be yet more expansion into all styles of dance music. Peace TeeP

I'm pretty happy with Stanton 720's- a place in Chinatown here (NYC) charged only $90 for two of them, which according to all recommendations was about half what I should have paid for them. That was while buying two 1200's, but they were grey market for $325, so it wasn't like they were making massive profit on the tables so that they reduced the cartridge price. Regardless, the sound is really clean and responsive, and I'd recommend the 720 to anybody. Phil Z
