If you haven't yet, check out the soundcloud website which just launched today. I hate to sound negative, but there are so many of these things out there -- every new one that comes out just makes me care less and less... What about last.fm? what about garageband? what about reverbnation? what about thesixtyone? what about... I think the point of myspace is not that it's free hosting for your music, but that it actually has a userbase that can justify spending time uploading songs and maintaining a page... I haven't tried it myself but Reverbnation seems to be an easy central junction to get your stuff published on a load of music platforms. But yeah, there are tons of ways out there to get your music posted. Yep, MySpace is where the hordes are. I have tracks up on MySpace but I hate it. A lot. Any alternative to MySpace is a good thing.
