If you haven't yet, check out the soundcloud website which just launched today. Looks like it is going to be a nice alternative for artists wanting to host music without using myspace etc. Here's my artist page: http://www.soundcloud.com/resynthesize -- BJT --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I hate to sound negative, but there are so many of these things out there -- every new one that comes out just makes me care less and less... What about last.fm? what about garageband? what about reverbnation? what about thesixtyone? what about... I think the point of myspace is not that it's free hosting for your music, but that it actually has a userbase that can justify spending time uploading songs and maintaining a page... If that's where you want to host your files, thats fine, but I'd still much rather visit a handmade website where someone took some personal time to put something together that doesn't bombard you with everyone else's music when you just want to hear from one musician. - M On 10-Oct-08, at 4:11 PM, Brandon Tallent wrote: If you haven't yet, check out the soundcloud website which just launched today. I haven't tried it myself but Reverbnation seems to be an easy central junction to get your stuff published on a load of music platforms. But yeah, there are tons of ways out there to get your music posted. The best ones IMO are those that allow you to embed their flash player in your own site, so you're basically only using them for the file hosting, and not for all that other crap they want you to use. -- "progress doesn't come from early risers progress is made by lazy men looking for easier ways to do things" http://n3wjack.net http://www.jungletrain.net - 24/7 dnb radio station

Yep, MySpace is where the hordes are. I have tracks up on MySpace but I hate it. A lot. Any alternative to MySpace is a good thing. I look forward to the day when I am nolonger complicit in supporting MySpace with it's beyong-obnoxious adds, painfully slow page loads and ownership by Newscorp. -- DJ Dual Core's Blog http://oldmixtapes.blogspot.com/
