Has anybody got one of these Novation Nocturns yet ? What's the hypotheses ? Is the Automap 2.0 Universal all that much cop for assigning to knobs/sliders on the fly ? Is it just a bit too much of a toy to be really useful ? I've read that the Nocturns data entry knob can be assigned to control an onscreen knob/slider in any application that you assign it to by using the Learn function. I'm specifically curious to know if anybody has yet tried this feature with algoriddims Djay 2 (shareware dj app for OSX) to control either the crossfader or the decks volume level sliders ? Just about all the other features of this app are controllable with default keyboard controls with the exception of (a) the decks level/volume sliders and (b) the crossfader (there is a keyboard control to switch the crossfader to either deck or to dead centre, but more gradual/incremental crossfades must be controlled by your touchpad/mouse, which is a bit finicky and none too versatile for longer, seamlessly beatmatched crossfades between tracks). The algoriddim site states that the software will work seamlessly with some Vestax DJ mixer or other, but I'd much prefer to be purchasing hardware that can be used for more than to simply turn the volume up on a sound file (i.e. I'd prefer to purchase hardware that can be used for hands on music composition aswell as controlling my cheapo DJ app, thus explaining my curiousity about the Nocturn). So can any users of the Nocturn confirm whether or not there are any automaps specific to the Djay 2 app available to registered Novation hardware owners for download from Novations website ? I'd also be curious to hear of peoples success (sucksass?) using the Novation Remote 25 SL to control Djay 2.0... I saw a vid on djtechtools.com of a laptop DJ's set-up using the Remote 25SL for triggering/filtering/etc in Traktor, which looks very sweet, but info as to the Djay 2's compliance with Novation hardware is non existent. I just don't want to end up throwing good money at Traktor and a Remote SL, when Djay 2 and the Nocturn will do just as good a job, but for a lot lot less outlay.
