i finally dropped the bucks for Datachi's "mmale and ffemale" and Leafcutter JOhn's "Housebound Spirit" jesus christie. i know i've said it, but thank the lords of the starspheres for Planet-Mu. "Mmale and Ffemale" is just a damn damn impressive work of sophisticated sound design, warped aesthetic pleasures, super-future beats, and sub-sub conscious melody lines. deep, dark vocal and symphonic samples and relentlessly inventive beat skattering. listening to it while walking at night, ... huge alien landscapes are revealed in your mind... it's all sorts of crazy. "House Bound Spirit" is even more in the improvey-sounding-avant-ness than i had expected. it's like... "art" music for long stretches, but done so tastefully, and is placed in such context that it starts to mean something so much. when he drops it into "khoms" and then "walk on my back" (more accessible fare) all the strange, distant sound pieces that preceeded them are placed in a space that makes them come alive with an intimate honesty. both are damn bold albums, and hugely successful. hats off to mu for the endless pursuit of timeless music!

Not sure to be honest but quoting Boomkat: "Gargantuan second compilation on the excellent Planet Mu imprint, this time scattering highlights from the label's hugely impressive back-catalogue across two packed-out cd's" Shimone/Justes http://www.staticbeats.com http://www.jungle-life.com http://www.boomboombap.com --- nat hawks <natbot@hotmail.com> wrote:

It isn't all necessarily original - the Fluoroscopic Kid track was licensed from a 12" put out in 1999. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Both. A lot of the tracks are a-sides from the Planet Mu 7" series, but there are a few from other Mu releases and some exclusive tracks as well.
