Yeah it was really great. I do have to say that I enjoyed the openers
more than I thought I would, and Autechre themselves a little less than
I thought I would, but it all averages out. I got there pretty
early...too early really. For some reason I thought the sets would be
shorter and Ae would go on earlier. So when I first got there the place
was a bit empty, but Rob Hall really did play some great acidy electro
and breakbeat so I didn't get too bored. The place filled up quickly
around 11, and snd played some seriously wild stuff. Autechre's beats
are pretty incredible, and the set had a good rhythm to it unlike some
of their recent releases, but I wish they would incorporate a little
more melody again. By the end of three hours of pure drum-machine
assault from snd and Ae, I was pretty ready for it to be done. Still, I
had a good time overall, and if I had come a little later I probably
wouldn't have gotten so burned out at the end. I definitely second the
recommendation to check it out if they come through your town.
(Never saw you, Shimone, but the place was pretty packed)
