As much as I dislike Microsoft, no. .mp3 streaming is pretty much the way to go these days. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

well sure that's optimum i agree. i was just mentioning it in case there was some reason they didn't go with it that realaudio would solve. as a good example take a look at glowdot.com - they offer 4 format choices including wma, realaudio, and mp3. d. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Ogg is nicer at low bitrates/mono, which can matter (it does for me, wearing my i'm-programme-controller-of-a-radio-station hat). Winamp plays it fine, and you can do some very nice stuff with the jlGui java applet and some creative webdesign. http://www.cur1350.co.uk/ for what I knocked up. Not quite as portable as mp3 (iTunes is the problem player, really) but having a java applet aimed at your stream really helps out there. - Andrew -- Dept of Earth Sciences, Univ. frankly, I just hate it when an online radio station want me to use some custom flash/java/whatever player, although it's a good idea to have one anyway, just in case the stream doesn't work in your favorite app, but if it doesn't play in WinAmp, I ussually can't be bothered to tune in.... -- "progress doesn't come from early risers progress is made by lazy men looking for easier ways to do things" http://n3wjack.blogspot.com http://www.jungletrain.net - 24/7 dnb radio station --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
