Whoa! Totally overboard, obnoxious spam bombardment! Cease and desist!!! List guidelines: "Auctions should be posted once to attract bidders, then be conducted in private thereafter. Any other classifieds, including long sale lists, should be announced as briefly as possible, with an invitation for interested parties to email you directly or visit a web location to receive the full information. It is okay to post short classifieds to the mailing list, but they must: 1) Pertain to Intelligent Dance Music 2) Be for personal transactions, not on behalf of a business 3) Be not longer than a screenful (25 lines) 4) Not be repetitive (do not keep reposting the same items)" And allow me to quote the wonderful Mxyzptlk on ad posting to the idm list: "I have always been aware of the policies and have followed them. I do believe that posting something in the subject line which makes people aware that the post is a FS/FA list was part of the stipulations surrounding them originally (I had some extended offlist discussion with former Moderator Aaron Parillo {Teep} about this in the mid-late 90s). Some people really like sales/auctions lists posted (aside from those who are selling, that is) and some people really don't. As this is a community of sorts, it would be better for all if rules were followed and respect were shown by both sides. It's a bit glib and selfish when people say "just hit your delete button" ad nauseum, just as it's a bit asinine and selfish to go off with the kind of hate-rant which I've snipped from the post previous to the one below. Not everyone who sells on eBay is a moneygrubbing capitalist; the conditions and situations surrounding every person who sells aren't usually clear unless you have a properly functioning crystal ball or are certifiably insane. In either case, "trance" may be a better option. Point is, if sellers bothered to check list policies and then showed the respect to others entailed in following them, there would be far less hassle about it. For all of you setting killfiles, I have always put "FA eBay" in my subject line when posting." Please, follow the guidelines: one post per week, ~not~ 3 in one day (actually, 3 within 7 minutes!!) and 5 total in three days. thank you, seek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
