OK, OK. I haven't answered your e-mail or returned your call. I'm a busy
man. I've been in New York and at Midem already this month and I haven't had
a chance to get back to hardly anyone...
This is a special Danger Mouse related e-mail mailout. I'll do a full one
really soon with news on upcoming singles, EPs and albums from Boom Bip,
Tes, Subtle, Prince Po, Hymie's Basement and all the live shows for this
Spring. However, right now I'm just going to fill you in on DM related
activity.
PAINT IT GREY
Danger Mouse is clearly one of the most talented producers and hustlers on
the planet. As well as promoting Ghetto Pop Life, his album with Jemini and
recording and producing the Prince Po album, DM has been busy on the DL
making The Grey Album. The full-length, which has nothing to do with Lex,
takes Jay-Z's Black Album vocals and breaks culled from The Beatles' White
Album. I've had a copy of the mix since Christmas. It's sick. Very very
sick. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe ?uestlove, Kanye West and The
Neptune's have all made approving sounds. The Grey Album has also been
lapped up by the media - in addition to coverage in Rolling Stone, The NME
and The New Yorker DM is featured on Sway & King Tech's Wake Up Show (this
weekend!), CNN and MTV TRL News (today, turn your TV on!!). Here's a quote
from MTV's on-line coverage:
"I love the Beatles, but nobody knows that there's breaks in there,"
said Chad Hugo of the Neptunes, who produced two songs on The Black
Album. After hearing The Grey Album for the first time, he nodded in
approval. "This is dirty," he said.
... and here's the whole thing -

. Here's some info from The NME site
http://www.nme.com/news/107248.htm. The
last I heard www.hiphopsite.com and www.sandboxautomatic.com had some more
news on where to get your hands on The Grey Album.
DANGER MOUSE & JEMINI "TWENTY SIX INCH EP" : USA RELEASE
In a move totally unrelated to the out-of-nowhere amazing coverage DM's Grey
Album, Lex is bringing the release date for the 26" EP forward to March in
the USA! The EP was going to drop in the summer but I've changed my mind.
The EP features 4 tracks : What U Sittin' On? 26" Remix feat. Cee Lo & Tha
Alkaholiks, Ghetto Pop Life Remix feat. Sadat X, The Sh!t and Ghetto Pop
Life II. The CD version also features the b-sides from the Conceited Bastard
EP and the Take Care Of Business EP.
FRESH PRINCE OF PO
Danger Mouse, Prince Po and the gang are still working on the album. Still
aiming for a May release.

I was in New York to meet up with Prince Po and we were in a bar after our
meeting. Everything was cool and the meeting was good because everyone was
so happy with the songs that we recorded. It was me DM, Prince, J-Zone and
Prince's manager - Mr.Hill. It was about 5pm and so it was quiet and we were
talking about the record and out of nowhere this old dude at the bar goes in
"Excuse me but I noticed you were talking about music..." and with that in
buts none other than legendary jazz pianist John Lewis
(

titxlf0e5cqu). Holy moley. Prince and Lewis hit it off, both being legendary
New York musicians and that, and we all spent the rest of the night hanging
out... It almost made me want to listen to some jazz...
