Wow, I knew that Apple was working with a lot of smaller labels, but when did the iTunes Music Store pick up Hefty and (now that I'm looking) Ninja Tune? I'd rather they joined in on bleep.com so there was higher quality and no DRM, but this is still promising. yes, it's really this bad. I got some mp3s of it, like, a month ago, and was hoping that I had some sort of non-final version of the album, or that the mp3s were a hoax. as for the whole singing thing - what kills the album is not the vocals - it's the out-of-control orchestral swells that kill the album. Well I'd really doubt it...otherwise the majors wouldn't appear in any other stores, right? :-) Unless they have different terms for smaller labels, which would suck a lot, and I'd certainly hope that the labels would refuse them. I don't like it. just like Her Space Holiday, they make pretty good beats but the lyrics and singing just doesn't do it for me. hopefully this trend of idm dudes trying to sing will pass soon. I think it's the merger of indie and electronic that's doing it. In the case of the new telefon tel aviv album at least, the singing is quite good. I don't know if it's the guys from telefon tel aviv who do the singing, but it is in key and the harmonies are spot on. It sounds great from a technical standpoint (whether or not you like the mix of singing + idm is another issue altogether). Another idm-ish album I really liked w/ vocals was dntel's 'life is full of posibilities'. I think the result of that kind of experimentation is interesting and you're selling yourself short if you pigeonhole idm as 'no singing aloud'. --- EggyToast <eggy@eggtastic.com> wrote:

A little off subject but does anyone know where you can get the New Port South soundtrack that Telefon Tel Aviv scored? I looked up some of the track names listed at the end credits and I found some group called Benelli but I can't find anything by them either. Not a very good movie but killer soundtrack...
