I really like some of the recent remixes I have heard from Tipper. I was considering picking up his album "Holding Patterns". Does anyone recommend it? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New Yahoo! Yes, but then again I like everything he's done, especially his LPs "The Critical Path" and "Surrounded". He is also 1/2 of the side project Crunch, which I highly recommend.

I have to agree about "Surrounded." There are some stellar tracks in there. If you wanna see/hear a bit more about Crunch, check out their label, Colony Productions. http://www.colonyproductions.co.uk/ .greg.

The Bit Hop Video Project, with the Crunch/Kima video collaboration, 'Albert', is one of the best-ever idm-flavoured vids. Brilliant production, great synchronization of image/story and music. Extraordinarily well done. "Father, wake up!" There are another 15 Crunch audio tracks in a file on the Bit Hop Video disc: a full album's worth of stuff, all very nice and crunchy, and extremely low-priced, considering the amount of material on the disc. It runs less than $12 retail. Don't miss it: it was one of the very best things that I encountered in 2003. seek

I'd say buy everything the man has ever done! But I'm a bit of an ?berfan, see.. It's a superb album; more dancefloor breaky than his debut, dripping in amazing production and subalicious roomshakeness. Get his stuff with Mike Wallis as "Crunch" for a more IDM kind of tip, and the essential "Surrounded" DVD (beautiful melodic electronica). His "Sound Off" mix from Fuel was a highlight for me, too. To be honest, I love all his work for different reasons - "Holding Pattern" is as good a place to start as any. P.S. Track down his remix of "Champion Sound" - one of the most fucked remixes I've ever heard! Love, Strepsil. _________________________________________________________________ Tired of 56k? Tipper is an *amazing* producer but for me a lot of his tracks lack warmth or funk. I listened briefly to that surround sound 5.1 type album he did and while technically accomplished it didn't really grab me the way a lot of his other stuff did. However the last release I got of his is a certified classic, tending more towards the dancefloor than the IDM couch. It's a track called "Pringle Guts" on a split 12" with Kosmik Neil on the other side (his track is a pretty average breaks workout) and it's on Trigger Records (Catalogue number = TRIG 003, Choo choo!!). Mp3 sample of the two tracks (Tipper's is first) here: http://www.htfr.com/mp3/MR114893.mp3 -skkatter ===== http://www.skkatter.net __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
