blimey mate you must have been. i've been going to warp events since Blech
in '96 and I thought this was up there with the best of them. up there with
the original '98 vapour in fact. the venue was great - spacious (once you'd
worked out how to avoid the inevitable bottlenecks and these weren't *that*
bad compared to Fabric say). The sound system was clear to my ears...i've
heard a *lot* worse, especially in large clubs. the cinema bit was genius
and there was, for once, enough seating for everyone who wanted it. my only
complaint was that they didn't make enough use of the bars - they should
have had a dj in each bar, all night...especially up the top. it's not like
there aren't enough electronica djs around....
set wise, jamie lidell and plaid were exemplary...vibert made me shake my
ass. aphex was enjoyable from a distance, although watching the madness
below made me wonder if i was getting old. nothing to complain about there
though.
the fact that you enjoyed the rancid corporate toss that was the lighthouse
party suggests to me that we're after very different things from our
clubbing. still...i do agree that the bar was overpriced. that was an
unnessasary expense...not that i was drinking anyway but I do agree. even
water was pricey.
