Howdy everyone.
New Obliq Website!
There has been a lot going on here at Obliq headquarters! First, we are
introducing our new web site. It has a simpler look-and-feel and
hopefully more detailed information on our releases and projects for
you. We also have built a store that has many of our releases
available, plus several releases that have not been publicly available
before. The 4213 box sets are limited and hand numbered. We have
acquired some of our K2o Records releases on both CD and LP and now have
those available for those of you who had a difficult time finding it.
Our t-shirt stash is growing very low, many sizes and colors only have
one left; so order quickly. We have automated our shopping cart some,
so if you experience any problems please let us know. Please provide
any feedback on the new site!
Multicast LIVE this weekend!
That's right, for the first time in over 3 years Multicast is playing a
live show. This is on Sunday night, August 3rd, in Boulder at Unity
Gain. Unity Gain is the weekly Sunday event at Trilogy Wine Bar
(
http://trilogywinebar.com <
http://trilogywinebar.com/> , 303.473.WINE)
at 2017 13th Street in Boulder (this is across from the county
courthouse on the Pearl Street Mall). 9pm - 2am.
Unity Gain is a combination of diverse musical forms, sensual interior
designs, and immersive film loops (which we're taking a step further.see
below). This is the dub party that everyone so richly deserves. Thanks
and love to all who have supported for the past 3 years. Unity Gain
voicemail is 303.380.2772.
Multicast will be performing a Live P.A. with Triptych Visuals by
Kinotonik Pictures (see
http://kinotonik.net <
http://kinotonik.net/> ).
Kinotonik is Vanguard American Cinema producing films Mallsoleum,
Persistence of Division, and the upcoming Sleeping Pills. For those
that saw any of the Crix Madine shows this last year, you will be
familiar with the stunning visuals that Kinotonik provides.
Also featured will be a live P.A. by Red Specter and Harmonic Motion DJs
Nod and Synapse. This is the only North American show planned for
Multicast this year, it should be a lot of fun!
Multicast and Crix Madine featured in Kinotonik movie!
Multicast and Crix Madine will be featured in Kinotonik's long-awaited
feature film Sleeping Pills. Many tracks will be included in this
feature film. We will let you know when the films release is and what
festivals and theatres will be supporting it.
Crix Madine EP Update!
As we mentioned in our last newsletter, we have a Crix Madine EP ready
for press (with a Multicast EP to shortly follow). Unfortunately due to
the economy and music sharing ethic there are several distributors that
still owe us and thus we are waiting for this payment before we can
press the Crix release.
The reason that distributors owe us (and many other labels) is because
record stores either have gone out of business or can not make their
payments. The reason that records stores are hurting is partly because
of the economy but also because of the MP3 revolution. Many of us
smaller labels understand that the digital revolution is here to stay
(unlike many larger organizations, like the RIAA) and that music will be
shared freely forever-more! Here at Obliq we think of MP3s as a
"shareware" type of deal-just another means of hearing new music. If we
come across an album or EP that we enjoy we hunt down that release in
support of the stores, labels and their artists. Being a label and
artist, and formally running a record store, we realize the amount of
hard word and effort that goes into providing quality recordings. Not
only for our sake, please support the bands/labels that you enjoy! It
is really sad to see independent record stores (the once homes of the
music we all enjoy!!!) going out of business and labels/artists and
supply chain being owed!
We'll step off our soapbox now, but we wanted to share our ethic and let
you know why our releases have been slightly delayed.
Other Obliq Happenings
On this Friday afternoon (August 1st) at 5:00 pm MST Multicast will be
doing an in-studio interview on Radio 1190 in Boulder. You can listen
on 1190 AM or on the web at
http://radio1190.org <
http://radio1190.org/>
. We will be debuting some new tracks that will be on the next
Multicast EP and will also be answering questions from Local Shakedown
DJs and listeners.
Obliq member Jefferson has a specialty show on Radio 1190 called
Route78West. You'll probably be surprised of the format of the show.
Give it a listen and I'm sure you'll enjoy the show! Check out
http://Route78West.com <
http://route78west.com/> for more details.
Finally, recently we had a horse die of the West Nile Virus. Take this
virus seriously; it is an ugly death for its victims!!! If you have
horses the vaccination is very effective and inexpensive! Feel free to
contact us if you have questions on the virus.
Hope to see you at the Multicast show.
