Hello all, This is Fitz of Intellectos Mag and Records: http://www.intellectos.com Well, new music is worth it! It is nice to know what is out there beyond your room and friends. Right? Especially if you buy one item and then recieve for FREE an electronic compilation full of abstract beats, IDM, and more. Try: Nophi - Compilation Two - Nophi Records Combining clicky intricate beats, abtsract beats for the adventurous, and abstract sounds this compilation showcases leftfield electronica which is neither indulgent experimental crap or simplistic preset electronica. Overall, this compilation is a very engaging mix of sounds. Nophi will be the new Rephlex or Warp if they keep this up! Not many electronic compilations can make you as excited as this! $10 (USA/CANADA) $10 (EUROPE/UK) $10 (REST OF WORLD) Delusions of Reference - Electronic Violation INFO: Everything from atmospheric bleepy washes, clicks and cuts, odd sample driven songs, and even forays into dancier electro-rock grooves within 4-5 songs. The variety flows quite well together despite the contrasting styles because the songs are ear friendly and hooky. Some fave tracks are "Close the Door" (a rhythmic dancey workout with breaks and heavy basslines) and "Detection" (a brittle melodic groove). This is a cd for fans of Broken Spindles, early New Order, Lazyfish, and Boards of Canada. $8.50 (USA/CANADA) $10 (EUROPE/UK) $11 (REST OF WORLD) Toyen - EP Phone Home - Racng Junior Toyen is a Norwegian duo. The strong point on this EP is the 2-Step Garage stomper "Dodgy Minister" a colorful bass driven workout featuring sexy vocals. As well the Toyen boys experiment with hard dub, Middle Eastern/Asian musical flavors, and dancey off-kilter beats. There are two superb remixes by C.O.U. and Moon Orchestra too. Oslo is the "new" New York!$6 (USA/CANADA) $8 (EUROPE/UK) $9 (REST OF WORLD) Nophi - Compilation One - Nophi Records NEW!!! Florida based label that excels at releasing high quality IDM in the vein of Warp/Rephlex. A great DIY electronic compilation. Check out Nophi Records. A must have for any true fan of electronic music and its future. $10 (USA/CANADA) $10 (EUROPE/UK) $10 (REST OF WORLD) Robots and Electronic Brains Mag Issue 11 with a free CD!! - This is one of the best British zines around now and it includes a fabulous free 5-label CD. Interviews with Bouvier and The Visit, Swim, Mrs Cakehead and Winterbrief's tour diary. $4.25 (USA/CANADA) $5 (EUROPE/UK) $5.50 (REST OF WORLD) Contra - Social Darwinism - Wild yet crafty electro-smash from DTrash that takes in and sucks out influences like Aphex Twin, John Cage, and more! John Pooley says, "Elements of glitchy sounds, classical and breakcore come together here to create what is possibly Contra's most accomplished work. Definately one to listen to in a dark room late at night." Nuff said. Only $9 (USA/Canada/Europe) and $10 (Rest of World)!!! More online here at http://www.intellectos.com (click records then mailorder). If anyone wants to send records for review I stress that it will appear alongside small and big bands alike I will not guarantee a good review we have a critical bunch here.
