hey all,
figured i could mail out with info on the couple of latest releases from
Monotonik, the net.music.label with pizzazz and panache and hyperbole,
huzzah.
They are:
Aleksi Eeben - "The Grand Rules"
[It's an epic 11-minute-long heavy metal-orientated bleep symphony,
yay, composed on the Commodore64, a 20-year old home computer with 64k
of memory, by Finnish artist Aleksi, who cleaned up a bunch of the
oldskool awards at the Assembly '02 demo-party in Helsinki this summer,
and is formerly known as 'legendary' musican Heatbeat on the Amiga
hacking-scene. The 'Good Vibrations' for the C64 in terms of unheard
sounds and clarity of vision, we claim.]
Toby1 - "European EP"
[The ever-fertile Australian electronic scene has spawned another gem, this
time the offspring of an earlier Monotonik releaser, in the duo Toby1,
comprising Ruth Wilson (vocals/instruments) and Duann Scott
(composer/producer/instruments). Duann put out an earlier Monotonik release
under his real name, and also released a warmly-received album on Surgery as
part of Modula, and Ruth was formerly with cult Aussie band
Masongreystrange. Their album is forthcoming on Surgery, and these two
tracks are soulfelt, mellow, and whispersung. Yum.]
Both sets of tracks (and another few hundred) are freely downloadable from:

have a nice weekend, y'all,
h0l!
