had the pleasure of attending the hefty/concur event in chicago last night. all of the acts were great: maersk, dabrye, telefon tel aviv, perspects, t.raumschmiere.... but honestly t.raumschmiere blew the roof off the place. his set was totally awesome. he really knows how to work the crowd and didn't let up with his noise for the duration. if this is any indication of what to expect from his upcoming hefty full-length, do not hesitate to pick it up! i'm still recovering.... wow. quite possibly the best techno live PA i've experienced. if they stop anywhere near you i highly recommend checking it out. i'll say it again that t.raumschmiere blew everyone else away but on the whole it was a great show. none of the acts disappointed me at all -- great to see such a wide variety of acts sharing the stage with good results. i think the tour is primarily TTV and t.raumschmiere but i could be wrong... the hefty site ought to have the details though. http://www.heftyrecords.com m.mercer :: design + sound design :: http://www.matthewmercer.com/ sound :: http://www.mattmercer.com/ _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I saw the same show in Detroit. My wife was falling asleep (the show started way late), so we had to leave half way through, but the sets I saw by String Theory, TTA and Maersk were stellar indeed. The DJs (Scott Zacharias and Matthew Dear, I think) were both amazing...Scott spun some of the best cheese-corn stuff I have ever heard in one concentrated blast (I am completely impressed with his ear for this stuff and his devotion to it! A *true* geek - hats off!!) and Matt (if that was him) dished out some prime fodder for the current zeitgeist. Great event and kudos to all involved. Wished I could have stayed for Perspects, Dabrye and Raumschmiere as I know they would have been well worth the wait. I dragged my brother-in-law down (formerly uninitiated to live IDM) and even he was duly impressed. Spent some time talking with Josh from ST - nice guy. All of them seemed like genuinely nice folks, including the Hefty and Ghostly label people. If the tour hits your town (I was under the impression that it wasn't that long of a deal?), I would encourage everyone to drop in. Great stuff. jeff At 01:58 PM 9/8/2002, M Mercer wrote:

aye. damn good show. hotter than hell in chicago though. ended up leaving after quite a bit of TTAviv because of the heat and lack of oxygen, but thoroughly satisfied. and a question for those who were at the chicago event: the first track that TTAviv did, were those vocals live? i was over by the windows getting some air when they came on and there wasn't really a good view from over there. and would anyone happen to know if that was a completely new track? didn't ring any bells from 'fairenheit fair enough'. ::crosses fingers for similar vocals on the next lp:: :mz // anonbox · http://posthoc.org/ | http://ecesis.org/ 'if there were two of you, which one would win?' --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I was at the Detroit show, and the vocals were not live, though the singer is from Chicago, according to Charlie from TTA. That is indeed a brand-new track and will be on the new EP that Telefon Tel Aviv is producing for Hefty (I'm not sure about release date; might be on the Hefty site). It was indeed a great track, and a great show overall from TTA. Dabrye continues to kill me with those ultra-punchy sounds and bass, too. bvl -- http://www.chromedecay.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Just listening to the Plaid Midsummer Mix from warpnet... there are two tracks from someone called Noose (I think - 1st one is before the squarepusher track, 2nd is before the Drexcya one), and they're quite good, anyone have any info on them, can't seem to find anything about them anywhere... thanks. skism... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

That pretty much sums the night up. Don't know about the Detroit date, but the Chicago night was overall, one of the better events I've attended all year. All the performances were great. Dabrye played a tight p.a. and T. Raumschmiere was absolutely sick, pushing the system to its limits and really working the crowd with such energy. Just great to see the hefty loft packed and jumpin like that. Nice to see all the labels set up there as well. Mad props to Hefty and Concur Collective for pulling this event off. Marc

definitely! i had heard from others that his performances are rocking and they certainly weren't wrong about that!

is it the "anti" lp? i picked it up from the hefty table at the event also in the hopes that it'd be like his pa. i haven't had time to give it a full listen yet, but so far, it seems much much more subdued than his performance - the tracks are really minimal. good, but not the intnese madness i was hoping for. albert
