just a quick ping (as we are wont to do) every few weeks with the latest
couple of new releases on the idm-friendly(tm) mp3.label monotonik.
these would be:
Secede - "Mommylove & Daddypride EP"
[brand new online as of about 5 minutes ago, this is a 4-track EP
from Dutch idmsta Secede, who has a remix on the hotly awaited
Machine Drum remix CD on Merck, and a solo full-length also due
on Merck in a few months. it's lush, melodic and intelligent,
and who can resist a track that ambiently cuts up George Bush
flubbing about Afghanistan? I know we can't.]
~aD - "Pharis Wheel"
[i think someone pinged this to the list already, but it's a 75-minute mix
from Chicago's ~aD touching on everyone from Prefuse 73, through
Jamie Lidell to Pop Will Eat Itself, even. it's the first mix we've released
on Monotonik for over 2 years, and not only does the track
choice imho rock, the mixing and layering (3 or 4 tracks sometimes play at
once!) make it into something special, almost Coldcut JDJ stylee.]
