i'll second the comment on jeff noon's 'needle in the groove' - a sweet read, and if you're only in the middle now, you've got a lot coming; a must have for any avid music fan - especially electronic and new wave (post punk) disciples wonder who could interpret this into a film... How does it compare to Vurt and Pollen? i read both of those books, and although both contained great ideas and were thoroughly enjoyable for the most part, i was left feeling dissapointed by the ending to both. -thor --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

it's not bad, especially if you're a raving post punk/new wave fanboy. the "music as drug" theme is explored in an interesting way. maybe not his best book, but worth reading. i would avoid the audio cd that you can get to go with it, though... j On Fri, 7 Jun 2002, thorsten Sideb0ard wrote:

I really didn't enjoy it that much, the whole book felt a bit dull compared to Vurt and Pollen, much better IMO is the collection of short stories, Pixel Juice, that he released earlier, it contains a lot more creativity and better ideas. Nevertheless I would still recommend it to people as it is, as above stated, extremely interesting to anyone with an interest in the electronic music scene (although be prepared for other people to accuse it of being pretentious wank or unreadable guff) georgewilliamson --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
