...and I am beginning to believe that there is some massive conspiracy to keep the prices away from the average browser. Am I alone on this? Seriously, most web sites are great with product info, demos, sound samples and even user libraries and chat boards, etc. But where in the sam hell is the price of the product?! That is so irritating. Melodyne [Cellemony software] for example. And if they do finally give you price information, it is only after you go 90% of the way through buying it! Give them your email address; where you live; how many kids you have; what position you have sex most often in... And just before you enter your cc# at the very bottom, $299.99 in small off white numbers. Well, okay maybe I'm over reacting now, but seriously....there is something very strange with the way audio software producers market. Is withholding the price until the last possible minute the best way to appeal to consumers? If any of you are selling anything of this sort, or work for a company that does, please for the love of god tell the people the price of your software. Oh, and the new venetian snares album is pretty damn tight. Brandon __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? A lot of companies don't sell to consumers directly, and encourage people to go through their distributors and retail outlets. It cuts costs because they don't have to staff a call center for sales and ordering/shipping. On top of that, the prices from the actual producers of hardware/software is almost always higher than the price you can get it from retailers. Less so for software, but definitely for hardware. Finally, many companies who sell high-priced audio processing software understand that if you're serious about purchasing their product, you already know how much it costs and that price isn't much of an issue. It's sort of dumb as it doesn't open the doors to amateurs or hobbyists, or people just looking to start out, but that's their business choice. Can't say I agree with it, but that's the mentality. derek ------- eggytoast.com ------- with lather thingy --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
