I'm really enjoying the MP3s I've heard here: http://www.epitonic.com/artists/tonelanguage.html They're from Tone Language's album 'Patience is the Key'. It looks like it's about 18 months old, so can't really recall anyone commenting on it... I vaguely recall mentions of Lee Norris having done this kind of more ambient fare, and I see he's a part of Tone Language... Anyway, just wondering how people found the album as a whole. Hey Michael, Good pointer, I liked these quite a bit -- I've been really enjoying Tim Hecker's "haunt me, haunt me, do it again" and just picked up Christian Fennesz' Endless Summer (sp?) on a cross-recommendation, and the TL makes a nice counterpoint given its quite different mixing of glitches on top of drone-washes... definitely in the 'pick up if I see it' category. Anyone have the album? My own current recommendation: the f100 demo CD: http://www.juliefowells.com/f100/ All good! Well worth contacting Julie and Bernard for a copy! aaron ghede@well.com http://www.quietamerican.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

For fans of this kind of soundscape, do try to get hold of the new release on Intr-version involving Mitchell Akiyama and Joshua Treble under the moniker of Désormais, entitled _Climate Variations_. Tim Hecker was involved somewhere along the line, incidentally (maybe mastering). A propos, anybody have good things to say about Jetone's _Ultramarin_? (on a different stylistic tip, I know) alan/beyond...sound Quoting Aaron Ximm <ghede@well.com>:

Oh yes, the Tone Language cd, Patience Is The Key, is wonderful stuff. to me it's reminiscent of the early, more melodic oval & microstoria sound. the album was produced with the help of ichiro taniguchi and kenj taniguchi (better known as reflection from the Clear label). If you enjoy the Tone Language stuff i highly recommend you check out the other Lee Norris ambient guise Nacht Plank. He did a full Nacht Plank album back in 1999 on Microwave (the Staalplaat cdr sublabel) called '1-12' and last year Lee released another Nacht Plank album with the help of Hem (kamal joory aka geiom) on Small Medium (the Neo Ouija cdr sublabel). Both of these Nacht Plank releases are in the vein of the Tone Language cd and are highly recommended. One more release in that vein would be the Hem cdr on the Microwave label called 'See Inlay Card for Details.' I had reviews of the Tone Language and first Nacht Plank cds but i cant seem to find them at the moment. but here is a small review of the nacht plank + hem cd. Hope this helps! . Nacht Plank + Hem: s/t cdr (Small Medium) The first collaborative cd between Lee Norris (Nacht Plank & Metamatics), and Jamal Koory (Hem & Geiom) produces 12 tracks of superbly etheral melodic glitchtronica not unlike the Tone Language cd on Staalplaat, the Tom Steinle tracks on the Tom label, or Diskont94-era Oval. Both Nacht Plank and Hem had solo cds out on the Microwave label previous to this collaboration, but neither solo effort had the combined warmth and beauty that this one does. Highly recommended but hurry because this release is supposedly limited to 250 copies. Small Medium indeed! -- -->-Lance---- PO Box 450715 Westlake, OH 44145 United States --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
